Our Therapists

The psychotherapists in Genesis have qualified in systemic family therapy, individual psychotherapy or child/play therapy. Some of our therapists are completing the final stage of their clinical training under supervision. The service operates in compliance with the Code of Ethics and training standards of The Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI), The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), The Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP), The Irish Council for Psychotherapy and The European Association of Psychotherapy, assuring you of the highest professional standards of confidentiality and practice.

Our Play Therapists are registered with the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (IACAT).

Accrediting Bodies

The Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI) is the professional organisation which represents family therapy and therapists in Ireland.

The Irish Council for Psychotherapy is the national umbrella body for psychotherapy in Ireland, representing over 1,250 psychotherapists.

The Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) was established in 1981 to identify, develop and maintain professional standards of excellence in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy was formed in 1992 as a non-profit association to represent Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapists in Ireland.

iacat is the accrediting body of creative arts therapists in Ireland and oversees the development and training of single modality MA courses in Art Therapy, Dance Movement Therapy, Dramatherapy and Music Therapy.

The European Association of Psychotherapy (EAP)  was founded in 1991 as an organisation to support and promote psychotherapy in Europe. It is the flagship of the profession of psychotherapy and unites 120.000 psychotherapists and 128 psychotherapy organisations from 41 European countries.
